Frequently Asked Questions
What is your process? What are the steps we complete so we can take home the Wild Rose puppy of our dreams?
Step 1: Apply!
You can fill out an application on our website under the “Apply” tab. Once you’ve applied, you’ll hear back from us within 48 hours, however once in a while, a few of our applications seem to get lost in our spam folder, so if you don’t hear back from us within 48 hours, please send us an email to follow up!
Step 2: Approval
We then approve/deny the application. You’ll hear back from us either way!
Step 3: Deposit
Once you are approved, we ask for a $300 non refundable deposit to be placed on the waitlist of your choosing. You can etransfer the deposit to our email wildrosesheepadoodles@gmail.com. We will put your name under the breeding/litter that you are interested in. The deposit is non refundable however does go towards the final price of your puppy. Your deposit will go under the litter you are interested in, however we understand that life happens and therefore your deposit can be transferred to a different litter up to two times.
When the puppies of your litter to are born, we will update you via an email or text. If you would like to move your deposit to a different litter, the puppies in your litter must be either not born yet or younger than 21 days old. If the puppies in the litter you are reserved to are older than 3 weeks of age, you will not be eligible to move your deposit to a different litter. Please keep in mind you must be able to pick up your puppy within 3 days of go home day. Once your litter is born, we will know when go home day is. If you are unable to pick up your puppy within 3 days of go home day (or be available to pick your puppy up from your local airport), you will need to consider moving your deposit to the next litter.
Step 4: Photos and Pricing
We list puppy’s individual photos and pricing on our website at 2 weeks of age. We then keep weekly photo updates coming every week, as well as ongoing videos of the puppies posted to our Instagram page.
Also at 2 weeks of age, we take a deposit of $1000 which goes towards the final price of your puppy.
Step 5: Next Deposit
When the puppies in your litter are 5 weeks old, we take a second deposit of $1000, which goes towards the final price of your puppy.
Step 6: Come Visit!
Also when the puppies are 5-6 weeks of age and both $1000 deposits have been sent/receieved, we invite you to come meet the puppies in person (if you live within driving distance). We have a very well designed parvo protocol that we have all our visitors follow so we can ensure that we are keeping our puppies as safe as possible from viruses and diseases, while also getting the privilege of meeting and spending some time with our new Wild Rose families!
Step 7: Puppy Picks
At 6.8 weeks old we do temperament testing on all the puppies. We then do individual puppy temperament evaluations and puppy picks! At 6.8 weeks we do the temperment testing, which takes us a day. Then we write up the evaluations, which also takes a day or maybe two. Then we send out the videos and evaluations to everyone on the waitlist. Once everyone on the waitlist has had a chance to view the temperament testing videos and each puppy’s individual evaluation (we give you 24 hours to view them all), we then do puppy picks. We do picks based on where you are on the waitlist, but we also are passionate about each puppy going to a home that is a perfect match for them, and therefore we help suggest which puppy’s temperament would thrive in which home. We are passionate about ensuring you get a puppy whose temperament is a good fit for you and your family. IF it comes time for you to pick, and there is not a puppy in the litter with a temperament you think would be a good fit for you/your family, we will discuss options at that time
Step 8: Final Deposit
At 7 weeks of age we take the remaining amount for your puppy, which again can be etransfered to our email wildrosesheepadoodles@gmail.com . Puppies are required to be paid in full at 7 weeks of age.
Are our $300 deposits refundable?
The $300 deposit to be put on a waitlist is non refundable. We do this because we want to attract only families who are actually committed to going on a waitlist and getting a puppy! The only time we refund the $300 deposit is if the mom of the litter your deposit is for does not get pregnant.
What if I put a $300 deposit down to be on a specific waitlist, but then when the litter is born I decide against the litter/timing and want move to a different waitlist?
If you are on a specific litter waitlist, you have until the puppies are 21 days old to move you $300 deposit to a different waitlist. This must be done within the first 21 days of your litter being born. You can move your deposit to a new waitlist up to 2x before you either choose a puppy from the litter waitlist you are on or lose your deposit.
What happens if the mom of our waitlist litter does not get pregnant?
If the mom of the litter you are on the waitlist for does not get pregnant, we will give you the option to have your $300 returned to you or move your $300 to a new waitlist (however this will not count towards your 2x available waitlist changes)
I see you take a deposit of $300 to secure our place on the waitlist of our choosing. When is the remainder due?
A $300 is required to secure your spot on the waitlist of your choosing. When the puppies in your litter are 5 weeks old, a deposit of $1000 is due, which goes towards the final amount for your puppy.
At 7 weeks of age, once temperment testing and evaluations have been completed and you have picked your puppy, the remaining amount for your puppy is due. Puppies are required to be paid in full at 7 weeks of age.
How does the puppy selection process work?
When puppies are 6.5 weeks old, we do temperament testing and evaluations on each puppy! We are passionate about placing our puppies with families that are a great fit for eachother, and therefore we want to give all of our families the opportunity to pick their puppy based on temperament traits and not solely on “cute” looks and markings. These temperament tests often take us a couple days to get complete, so we will likely do them when puppies are 6.5 weeks of age, then need a couple days to upload videos and write up their individual evaluation reports. The videos and evaluations will be send out to all waitlists families who will get 24 hrs to look them over. Once everyone on the waitlist has had a chance to view the temperament testing videos and each puppy’s individual evaluation, we then do puppy picks! (So usually a day or two before puppies turn 7 weeks of age). We do puppy picks in order of where you are on the waitlist, but we also are passionate about each puppy going to a home that is a perfect match for them, and therefore we love to be hands on in helping you decide which puppy’s temperament would be the best fit for you.
What is all included in the price of our puppy?
Head over to our “Pricing” tab to read all that is included in the price of your puppy!
What if I am last on the waitlist and neither of the 2 puppies I have to choose from are a good temperament fit for me?
If there is not a puppy in your litter with a temperament you think would be a good fit for you, we will reimburse you of the money you put towards your puppy at 5 weeks of age, and move you and your deposit to another available waitlist.
Visits. If we are in driving distance to Lethbridge, can we come visit the puppies and meet them and yourself?
Yes!! We LOVE meeting our Wild Rose families in person, if it’s possible. Those who are on the waitlist and have put down half the amount at 5 weeks are invited to come meet the puppies and myself! We open our home to our waitlist visitors when puppies are 5-6 weeks of age. During that week, you can arrange with me any one of those days to come by for a visit. Visits are scheduled for 1 hour time slots for each family.

What is all included in our puppies go home bags? What do I still need to purchase before my puppy comes home?
All go home bags include a collar, a leash and a harness. They also include a pig ear for puppy to chew on, a ball for puppy to run after, and a stuffie for puppy to cuddle with. In addition, all go home bags include a blanket that smells like mom and littermates, for ultimate comfort during go home travel day and the first days transitioning into their new home. You will also receive a weeks worth of food, and all vet paperwork including microchip information, spay/neuter certificate, health check information, deworming information and proof of vaccinations.
If your puppy is flying, you will also receive a fit to fly certificate from our vet as well as a kennel which your puppy will fly to you in.
Before your puppy comes home, you will need a kennel, food dishes, food, chew bones for your puppies teething and sore teeth, some toys and poop bags! Hit up our “resources” page for other ideas and suggestions.
If I need my puppy flown to me, how does that work?
If your puppy is flying, we take care of all the arrangements to make this happen smoothly and without any stress. It is $500 for us to fly your puppy to you.
This $500 includes:
*We will set up the flight and take care of all the details. All you need to do it show up at the airport to collect your new baby
*A crate which you can continue to use for your puppy
*A Fit to Fly Health Certificate from our Veterinarian
*Our 5 hours of travel to the airport to drop off your pup for it’s arranged flight
We will arrange to have your puppy flown to you a day or two after they turn 8 weeks of age. You will just need to be available to go to the airport and pick up your puppy when it lands.
We suggest taking with you to the airport some towels incase puppy had an accident in their crate. I also suggest taking a bowl and water so you can give your puppy water as soon as they land and you get them out of their crate.
You can also fly to Calgary or Lethbridge to pick up your puppy and travel home with them in cabin with you, or we can hire a flight nanny to fly with puppy in cabin and deliver your puppy to you. We have access to an amazing flight nanny, so please let me know if this is an option you are considering and I can give you a quote, however know that it will be at least $1000 for this service.
What kind of support do we get after we bring our puppy home?
We are ALWAYS here to support you, available via email, texting or phone calls. However in addition to this, we want our families to go home feeling confident with their new puppy and in their abilities to tackle the puppy stage and raise their new puppy into the dog of their dreams. We are constantly trying to improve our program and improve your experience in getting your new puppy from us! We LOVE our puppies, but we also LOVE our Wild Rose families! Because of this, we want no puppy family to leave here without feeling supported in creating a great start to training their puppy. Therefore, each of our Wild Rose Families will receive a complimentary four week puppy training program, paid for by us! This program is an online, day by day, step by step guide to all things puppy training, and will give you and your puppy the education and confidence you need for the best start possible to raise your puppy up into a calm and well behaved doggo!
We do not want our puppy families to feel the stress/overwhelm of brining home a new puppy and feeling unsure where to start. You will be so happy and feel very well supported by My Loyal Hound’s four week long daily puppy training program and individual 1:1 support.
Do you ever deliver puppies to Calgary or Edmonton?
The answer to this is sometimes. Again this is something we would love to hire for a be able to offer consistently. So stay tuned! However now, if we have a couple puppies going to homes in Edmonton, we usually try to do a “puppy carpool”. Meaning one of the families will do the drive to pick up all the Edmonton puppies, and the other Edmonton families won’t have to do this drive to get their puppy but will pay for the drivers gas. “Puppy carpooling” is a way we can reduce fuel emissions and be more efficient!
We also bring many puppies to the Calgary airport if they need to fly, so if you are in Calgary, we could take your puppy to Calgary with us and you could meet us on that day
Let’s talk about Spay/Neuter
Your puppy will come home with a health check, their first vaccines, already microchipped and dewormed. They will also come home already spayed or neutered or with a hormone sparing spay or vasectomy. I’ll explain the difference below and you can let me know which option you would like for your pup
A spay and neuter is the typical surgery that the vets do on female and male dogs. With the females, a spay means she will not have her ovaries/uterus and will longer go into heat. With the males, a neuter means he will no longer have his testicles and therefore will not be making testosterone which can lead to testosterone driven behaviours.
A lot/most of my puppies will go home with the typical spay/neuter done at 7 weeks of age. I love this so much for a number or reasons.
1. The surgery is paid for by me and it’s a surgery, recovery, and cost that families won’t have to even think about for their puppy moving forward. When my puppies get this procedure done at 7 weeks of age, I drop them off at the vet in the morning and pick them up again a few hours later. The procedure is quick and the pups recover almost immediately. The puppies come home happy and resume normal play. No cones, no pain meds, no kennel time, no limiting activity. These pups have literally NO idea they just had a surgery and it really is such an easy procedure to have done when they are 7 weeks old. It is quick, painless, no recovery time and no huge vet bill for my families moving forward
I have done many many many of these for years and years. There is lots of debate between vets on when a puppy should be spayed/neutered. I have done a deep dive into all the scientific studies that have been done on spay and neuter and have written a 30 page, single spaced research paper on the topic. From what I’ve learnt from the studies done thus far, is that there is really no conclusive information that early spay/neuter is harmful for a dog. Some studies suggest it can come with risks, while other studies suggest it doesn’t, while other studies suggest waiting to spay/neuter your dog also comes with risks. The adult size of the dog also comes into play, as done the breed. However what I am SEEING and experiencing after doing this for years and years is that there are most definitely not any higher health risks for a dog when having a spay/neuter done at 7 weeks vs 7 months. Except puppies that have this done procedure done at 7 weeks recover much much quicker and it seems to be much easier on them. I absolutely love my puppies deeply and am passionate that they go on to live long, healthy and happy lives. If I was seeing health issues arise from early spay/neuter I would obviously not still be doing it. I’ve also consulted with other professionals on this topic and feel I am well educated and making wise decisions for my puppies and their health, happiness and longevity. Remember, this is a HUGE financial cost out of my pocket. It would be so SO much easier (and cheaper) for me not to do this with my puppies and have their families be responsible to pay the $700 vet bill in 6 months time for the spay/neuter of their dog. Despite the cost that comes from my pocket, I am still doing it. Why? Because I love how easy this procedure is on the puppies (vs seeing how hard it can be on dogs when they are 6+ months of age), I love how fast they recover, and I love that my families can have peace of mind that this procedure and cost has already been taken care of when they bring their new puppy home. In addition, this is ACTION I am TAKING to be proactive in ensuring my puppies never get into the hands of backyard breeders and never have any part to play in the overpopulation of dogs/dogs in shelters.
However, in saying all of the above, some people still feel uneasy about doing early spay/neuter, and that’s okay too. If you prefer to wait to do the spay/neuter surgery for when your pup is older, I want to respect that and leave this decision ultimately up to my families. In that case, let me know and I will do an ovary sparing spay (on the females) and a vasectomy (on the males). This means with the females, they just take the uterus but keep the ovaries. With the males, they do a vasectomy but keep the testicles. This ensures the dogs are not able to reproduce however keeps their hormones intact. The females will still go into heat and the males will still have progestrone fueled behaviours. If the owners, in the future, would like their females not to go into heat and their males not to have behaviours that can come with testosterone, they would need to get a spay/neuter done at this time. An ovary sparing spay and a vasectomy are both incredibly quick procedures and pups are back home again playing within a few hours, similar to the spay/neuter procedure.
